Description

- Habitat
- Growing on very decomposed alder (Alnus rubra) wood and more rarely on Western hemlock (Tsuga heterophylla), habit gregarious to occasionally clustered at stipe base.
- Pileus
Plane to depressed; leather colored (light creamy to honey brown), lightest on the outer margin; minute dark scabers over disc; radially striate; hygrophanous.
- Lamellae
Notched to subdecurrent; white with weepy yellow-orange (to tan brown) stains; spore print creamy white.
- Stipe
Even, becoming bulbous at base; chestnut light brown at apex fading to dark olivaceous brown mid stipe to chiffon lemon or whitish yellow at base; annulus present; veil tissue whitish gray, fiberous yellow hairs present below annulus zone; dark rizomorphs present at base.
- Micro
Spores: pip-shaped, ovoid, elliptical, smooth; 7.5-10.5 x 5-6um.
Basidia: 4-spored

Likely part of a species complex, this is a difficult to define group!
